Environmental health comprises the assessment and control of those environmental factors that can potentially affect human health, such as radiation, toxic chemicals, and certain biological agents. The ethical frameworks and underpinnings that drive environmental health practice are not always made explicit and in our view require greater attention. We are looking forward to the contributions of colleagues from the whole range of environmental health on the ethical implications of science and technology and on the application of research results in the regulatory and policy domains.

As did its four predecessors, the 6th Symposium on the Ethics of Environmental Health will take place in Budweis (České Budějovice), Czech Republic. It will begin with dinner and an introductory lecture on the evening of Sunday, 8 September 2024, and continue with plenary and possibly parallel sessions till Wednesday lunch, 11 September 2024.

The symposium will be held in conjunction with a workshop on „Ethics of Environmental Health in Armed Conflict Situations“, which is organised as part of RRADEW  („Resilience to RADiological Events in Wartime“), a project  supported by PIANOFORTE („European Partnership for Radiation Protection Research“.) Co-sponsors will be SHARE (a European Network for "Social Sciences and Humanities in ionising radiation REsearch") and the University of South Bohemia. For those who require financial support the conference fee incl. meals and accommodation (at a student residence) can be waived. Limited funds are also available for travel support.
